Energy drinks are said to help give you energy for you long days, but are very deadly at the same time. Energy drink companies say that it’s the kids faults for drinking the energy products but all in all it is there’s to begin with. They have hidden so much from us should they be allowed to hide it any more? One of the biggest dangers of energy drinks is death. There are twelve reported death reports saying that monster energy is the cause for the deaths. The companies were sued by the families of the teens who died from drinking the drinks. The companies stated that it was their kids faults for there deaths because the consumed the product in hand, but they didn’t know the ingredients in the energy drinks. Some of the publics schools in Washington sell energy drinks everyday at there schools. The energy drink companies are trying to get the advertisement out to the younger kids to wanting them to buy more and more of there products. If we pulled the energy drinks from schools and selling them there would be less teen and children deaths in the us alone then there has been over the year. Energy drink companies should label everything a lot better, because having them hide some of the ingredients isn’t something id like to let my kids use. Less people would drink them if they new what all was in the products. Most of there products have over 1,600mg of sugar in it , that’s equal to one in a half to two bags of sugar. Putting all this sugar into these drinks and having kids consume them causes the kids to become hyperactive whenever they consume the product. If these kids keep drinking these drinks they will cause them self to get diabetes, after drinking the energy drinks for a long period of time. Considering the challenge of being sued for there product the companies try and change the topics to the family. When the companies blame the family for there family members death. The energy drink companies should be responsible because they are changing up the story every time someone sues them into trouble of their product. Yes I think energy drinks help with getting energy during the day, but the drinks a re a health concern for everyone. There product is dirty a man after drinking and energy drink found a dead rat in his can after finishing his drink, all I can say is ewe would you want that in your drinks. To close I believe every energy drink should be banned because of all the health hazard and dangers to our well being. The energy companies should be forced to not be allowed to hide anything from its buyers. Cancer is â€Å"characterized by the development of abnormal cells that divide uncontrollably and have the ability to infiltrate and destroy normal body tissue. †(Mayo Clinic Staff) It is caused by a simple DNA mutation that causes the body to create a cancerous cell.It causes many physical complications including: pain, fatigue, difficult breathing, nausea, diarrhea, constipation, and difficult immune reactions known as paraneoplastic syndromes. It made me even more scared and stressed out. How was my wife going to take this? I can’t even give her a family the normal way. We have to do ________ for the rest of our lives. That was the most stressful thing of the whole thing. † He and his wife also went through tough financial losses.Without Joey working and his wife still in college, they were struggling to pay their bills. When joey was younger, he was in prison. He wa s exposed to contaminated drug needles and other devices that had many diseases and viruses on them. Stranger than Paradise essays This movie could be considered a complete waste of time for many people. The movie is in black and white. This affects the surroundings in the movie. New York, Cleveland, and Florida look dark and dreary. This inhibits the characters, in their emotions. Throughout the movie there is a lot of silence, and tension between Eva and Willie. I relate the black and white theme in this movie to color theory. Black and white are opposite ends of the value scale, or color sphere. These two are highly contrasting colors, which cause strain and tension when together. This could explain Eva and Willie. Eva, who seems to be better alone, unlike Willie who has to have his friend Eddie. These two characters cause tension when put together. Eva feels confined when put into the prison-like situations that Willie puts her in. For example, being left alone in apartments, and hotels by herself. These two characters together cause the same contrasting effects of the two colors black and whit e. This film begins with Eva arriving in New York to stay with her cousin Willie. Willie lives by himself in an unkempt apartment. Eva arrives to Willies place, but Willie does not really make her feel welcome. He feels like he has to be some sort of babysitter. Eva is left in the apartment by herself feeling lonely and bored. One day she leaves the apartment and goes to the store. When she returns she shows Willie what she shoplifted. Willie is impressed that Eva did this sort of crime in the unsafe neighborhood that he lives in. Throughout the time she spends in New York Eva stays bored and lonely while Willie stays content with his friend Eddie. I believe Eddie is Willies only friend. Self-Reflection of a Teaching Project Self-reflection refers to an activity or process in which an experience is recalled, considered, and evaluated, usually in relation to a broader purpose. It is a response to past experience and involves conscious recall and examination of the experience as a basis for evaluation and decision-making and as a source for planning and action. Self reflection is a thinking process in which an individual seriously considers and thoughtfully judges prior experience of the self. The consecutive engagement in reflection commonly leads the self to generate a change in conceptual perspectives My brief experience in the project allows me to understand and appreciate the art of self-reflecting. Recording lessons seems to be pretty much the ultimate method of self-reflection. Reflecting back on ones performance during a lesson is a great way of detecting and investigating the strength and weaknesses of a lesson. From preparing, recording the lesson and finally analyzing the video recording, I have learned a great deal of skills through this project. There are several mistakes that could be avoided in this project. During the recording of the lesson, the classroom should be a proper classroom with no interruptions such as technician and group members moving around. Regarding the attire, the students should have been better dressed as what a formal class should be. The recording of the lesson could have been better if by using one camera only with only one cameraman. That way we could avoid the unnecessary classroom interruptions with too much cameraman moving around the class. I am determined now that self-reflection in teaching involves changes in the way we usually perceive teaching and our role in the process of teaching. Teachers who explore their own teaching through critical reflection develop changes in attitudes and awareness which they believe can benefit their professional growth as teachers, as well as improve the kind of support they provide their students. Self-reflection is a valuable tool for self-evaluation and professional growth. I believe that experience alone is insufficient for professional growth, but that experience coupled with reflection can be a powerful momentum for teacher development. Self-reflection involves moving beyond a primary concern with instructional techniques and â€Å"how to† questions and asking â€Å"what† and â€Å"why† questions that regard instructions and managerial techniques not as ends in themselves, but as part of broader educational purposes. Asking â€Å"what and why† questions give us a certain power over our teaching. We could claim that the degree of autonomy and responsibility we have in our work as teachers is determined by the level of control we can exercise over our actions. In reflecting on the above kind of questions, we begin to exercise control and open up the possibility of transforming our everyday classroom life. The process Ive gone through in completing this project allows me to assess my understanding of what being a reflective teacher really means. Ive learned that the method of recording a lesson for deeper analysis is the best way to uncover information about our own teaching techniques in a lesson, information that is inaccessible through other method of self-reflection. There are several things that could have been avoided or improved regarding this project. I felt that the lesson needs to be more formal, or as similar to how a day-to-day classroom would be. In that sense, the students would be more in the mood of formal learning. I would also recommend the use of only one cameraman, as to avoid any other visual interference of the video recording, such as another cameraman moving around trying to record the lesson. After carrying out and completing this project, I learned that being a teacher is not a simple task that one can just sit back and do their job relaxingly. A good teacher needs to be determined and committed to their work in improving their teaching techniques. Self-reflection is not something to be taken lightly. It is a very important aspect of the step toward improving ones quality as a professional teacher. When I was young growing up I was teased because I was told that I spoke â€Å"white†. Unfortunately in my case, I taught myself to speak the way everyone else spoke and I regret it to this day. At the time I felt if I spoke the same way everyone else did I would be accepted as everyone else. Now that I have reached a level where speaking incorrectly is not acceptable, I have to practice speaking. Rachel L. Jones and Amy Tan both made excellent points on different backgrounds having their own way to converse, but also being able to speak professionally. Amy Tan stated â€Å"I was ashamed of her English. I believed that her English reflected the quality of what she had to say. † My father has always made fun of the way I speak and I believe he underestimated my intelligence. Recently over spring break I had to write an essay for an internship I was applying for. When he read my paper he admitted to how amazed he was at how well I wrote it. Since I don’t speak correct English all the time he assumed writing was not as strong as he saw it to be. From elementary school to now I have always been told you write the way you speak. I feel that is not necessarily true. I feel when writing you have time to think on what you have written and being able to proofread helps also. When conversing with someone, there is not any time to think about the correct way to say something. I too feel English is a point of view and there is not one perception of it. There are many ways and different accents but one accent is acceptable in the professional world. In â€Å"What’s Wrong with Black English†, Rachel explained that she does not agree with William Labov quote â€Å"It is the goal of most black Americans to acquire full control of the standard language without giving up their own culture. † I would have to also disagree with Labov because I feel he is expressing that African Americans speak incorrectly. People of all races all do not speak correct English; it seems as if it is a stereotype of what African Americans try to acquire. African Americans need to learn speaking incorrectly is not our culture. Our ancestors were not taught to speak correct English so it became a cycle. Now that we are allowed to receive the same education as everyone else, we need to not allow Rachel stated â€Å"Knowing the price that was paid for me to develop my abilities, it’s infuriating to hear that some young blacks still perceive clear speech as a Caucasian trait†. Many people my age today still think speaking properly means speaking as a Caucasian would. My younger sister who speaks correct English always is mad fun of. My sister is very intellectual for her age and I have always stood by her side when someone tried to make her feel bad for being smart. I refuse for my sister to do what I have done to myself. Moral Permissibility of Torture

To most, torture is seen as action with a single definition that defines it, but in fact there are different types of torture that Henry Shue discusses in one of his articles. According to Shue there are rare conditions under which torture could be morally justified, but he does not endorse neither the interrogational torture not the terroristic torture. Although Shue agrees with illegality and morally wrongness of torture, he explains how one may go about defending torture and how it could possibly be morally justified. Henry Shue begins his article discussing torture with constraints which allows the victim to â€Å"surrender† and comply with the demands of the torturer. According to the Constraint of Possible Compliance (CPC), â€Å"the victim of torture must have available an act of compliance which, if performed, will end the torture† (Shue 427). With the aim of interrogational torture being to extract information from a person with holding it, this torture appears to satisfy the constraint of possible compliance, since it offers an escape, in the form of providing the information wanted by the torturers, which affords some protection against further assault. In practice there are evidently only a few pure cases of interrogational torture. For the most dominant type of torture that occurs today is considered to be terroristic. Terroristic torture is meant to put fear in not only the victim, but also all those who oppose that government. The victim’s suffering is being used as a means to end over which the victim has no control over. Terroristic torture cannot satisfy the constraint of possible compliance because its purpose, intimidation of persons other than the victim of the torture, cannot be accomplished and may not even be capable of being influenced by the victim of the torture. If terroristic torture were actually to be justified, the conditions would of course have to be met. The first condition Shue defines is the purpose being sought through the torture would need to be not only morally good, but also supremely important. These purposes would then have to be selected by criteria of moral importance which would themselves need to be justified. The second condition described is that the torture would presumably have to be the least harmful means of accomplishing the supreme goal. With the terrible pain and harm that is associated with terroristic torture, this condition could rarely be the case in this type of torture. The last condition Shue defines is it must be absolutely clear for what purpose the erroristic torture was being used, what would constitute achievement of that purpose, and when the torture would end. Henry Shue believes these three conditions will never be met primarily because terroristic torture tends to become a routine procedure in methods of governing and once it is set in motion by that government it would gain enough momentum to become a standard operating procedure within the government. Shue also describes how governments to choose to try and prove themselves to other nations, over eliminating themselves from the fight.
